چکیده

Unimorph design consisting of a piezoceramic bonded to an elastic surface is the most common structure used to induce deformations. The analytic models developed by Park and Agrawal are extensively used to determine the induced strain on piezo-actuated surfaces. These models are based on different strain distribution hypothesis that, however, do not consider the relative thickness size between piezo and surface. Results using Park and Agrawal models are first compared with a finite element simulation, revealing how the piezo strain distribution considered by each model affects its prediction. Following, a simplified model suitable to be used in a preliminary design approach is proposed. This model allows an initial device dimensioning, also estimating the stresses involved. An experimental prototype matching a clamped surface actuated by a piezoceramic characterizes the piezo performance under practical conditions. The paper concludes with a detailed analysis of the validity of the proposed simplified model, comparing them with Park and Agrawal models, the FEM model, and the experimental results. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. Analytical Axisymmetric Coupled Piezo-Elastodynamic Models for Guided-Wave Structural Health Monitoring

1 With guided-wave approaches becoming prevalent for structural health monitoring, the need has arisen for more effective models employing these methods using piezoelectric transducers. This paper describes an analytical formulation to couple transducer dynamics with axisymmetric guided-wave excitation models for isotropic plates. The finite-dimensional piezo-actuator dynamics are modeled using...

Design and Simulation of A Piezoelectric Actuated Valveless Micropump

In this work, we design and simulate a valve less, diaphragm-based, piezoelectric micro pump. The piezoelectric actuator is a PZT-5H piezo-disk, the diaphragm is a borosilicate glass plate. All the simulations were made using COMSOL Multiphysics software. First, the piezoelectric actuator and membrane thicknesses were chosen by means of a stationary simulation, using the piezoelectric devices m...

Shape control of a beam using piezoelectric actuators

This paper presents the analytical and experimental results on optimal placement of piezoceramic actuators for shape control of beam structures. The objective is to determine the optimum piezoceramic actuator locations and voltages to minimize the error between the desired shape and the achieved shape. The analytical model for predicting beam deformation due to a piezoelectric actuator is based...

Buckling Analysis of FG Plate with Smart Sensor/Actuator

In this paper, the active buckling control of smart functionally graded (FG) plates using piezoelectric sensor/actuator patches is studied. A simply supported FG rectangular plate which is bonded with piezoelectric rectangular patches on the top and/or the bottom surface(s) as actuators/sensors is considered. When a constant electric charge is imposed, the governing differential equations of mo...
